Opportunities for MSW Student Interns

We’re accepting compassionate, dedicated, and highly motivated student interns (MSW students) to join our mental health practice. The ideal candidate is someone willing to work with individuals, families, and community members. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience and training in the mental health field, while providing meaningful support to individuals, families, and communities in need..

Please note, our office is a growing private practice based in Perry, Florida. We provide individualized outpatient therapy for adults, couples, adolescents, children, and families. We serve a diverse client base that faces a variety of mental health challenges; so, cultural competency is a must. We are a well-established practice (10 years strong!) and we expect our MSW student interns to fully immerse themselves by maintaining a case load of 5-8 clients per semester. Our therapists are a part of a highly skilled and passionate team, who diligently work to provide a high standard of ethical and clinical practice - we expect the same from our student interns.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited (Council of Social Work Education, CSWE) graduate Social Work. program (MSW).

  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in the mental health field after graduation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and technology skills.

  • Basic knowledge of mental health disorders as recognized by The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5-TR), evidence-based counseling practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and guidelines of the NASW code of ethics.

  • High capacity for self-awareness, self-reflection, and willingness to engage in feedback processes through individual and group supervision.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner with strong organizational and time management skills, as our practice is a high paced environment.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Under the supervision and direction of a licensed mental health professional, Master’s level interns are expected to:

    • provide direct clinical services to clients through case management and counseling.

    • conduct intake interviews and assessments.

    • maintain accurate and timely documentation of all clinical work, including progress notes, treatment plans, and other client-related information, in accordance with legal and ethical standards.

    • coordinate with external resources and providers as needed.

    • participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.

    • engage in ongoing supervision to address any clinical or ethical issues that may arise.

  • Administration duties will include working collaboratively with our support staff and assisting staff with clerical duties related to private practice. Please do not apply if you are not willing to perform administrative and clerical duties.

  • For interns who are interested in working in a school-based setting, we offer school-based shadowing opportunities.
