Dawna is the founder of and lead therapist at A New Dawn, A New Beginning. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who is trained and experienced in providing counseling and therapy for individuals, families, couples, children, adolescents, and adults. Dawna has extensive training in trauma related treatment interventions and she specializes in the assessment and treatment of trauma related disorders. Dawna offers integrative and evidence-based treatments for clients. She also offers consultation for family members who may have also been affected by trauma and/or abuse.
As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Dawna’s work integrates developmental, biological, psychodynamic, and interpersonal aspects of the impact of trauma and its treatment. Dawna has completed training in Advanced Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy Interventions, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. Dawna also has extensive training in the areas of substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, suicide prevention, conduct disorders, ADHD, anger management, interpersonal violence, and domestic violence.
Dawna is certified to provide consultation and supervision to undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students in the field of social work as a Qualified Supervisor through the Florida Mental Health Licensure Services. Lastly, Dawna is an adjunct professor with Florida State University College of Social Work.
